Llanbedrog Beach

Llanbedrog beach is well known for its backdrop of Victorian beach huts and lovely views overlooking Cardigan Bay. This sandy beach became popular after the Victorians first started to visit the area and has been enjoyed by many generations ever since. The colourful beach huts add a wonderful splash of colour, sure to brighten up your day no matter what season you visit. The beach is sheltered too so its the ideal place for a paddle in the sea or a leisurely stroll.

The area is managed by the National Trust and the car park is free for members (payable for non members). There are no public toilets but dogs are allowed here all year round. Between April 1st and September 30th, they must be on a lead.

Weekly Market

You can’t visit a renowned market town and not visit the market itself! A weekly market has been held here since the 14th Century and today, Pwllheli is home to the largest outdoor market in North Wales. The market is held every Wednesday and during the peak summer season, there can be in excess of 50 stalls trading. People from all over the Llyn visit the market regularly, which has a whole range of goods for sale including fresh fruit & vegetables, street fashion, mobile phone accessories, household goods and tools plus garden plants and flowers too. There is even a smaller local produce market, held on Sundays during the Spring/Summer months.

The market is held in Y Maes, in the centre of town, and usually starts around 9am.

Snowdonia

Pwllheli is a great base to go and explore Snowdonia from. Arguably Wales’s finest mountain ranges, they cover approx. 52% the Snowdonia National Park but thats not all thats here to see. The surrounding landscape is varied, consisting of steep river gorges, waterfalls and green valleys.

Of course the biggest mountain in Wales and England is here; Snowdon, which you can visit on foot or take the train to the 3,560ft summit. The stunning coastline here, along the Llŷn Peninsula, is a protected ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and its easy to see why. If you’re visiting Pwllheli, a visit to Snowdonia is definitely among the top things to do.

Oriel Tonnau

Opened in 2006, Tonnau is a contemporary gallery featuring Welsh art. This coastal themed gallery is based in the centre of town, in a former woollen mill and paint shop and sells original artworks, prints, photographs, jewellery, gifts and books. There is also a small coffee shop, serving drinks and delicious cakes.

Glasfryn Parc

Glasfryn Parc activity centre is perfect for a great day out, no matter the weather. There are a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities you can take part in here including go karting, quad biking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, wakeboarding and ten pin bowling! Plus there is an onsite farm shop and a restaurant so you can refuel during your visit. Well behaved dogs unloads are welcome in the centre but not in the dining areas or the bowling alley.

As well as these activities, Pwllheli isn’t short of local coffee shops, independent retailers, galleries and restaurants, plus the nearby Criccieth Castle, for you to visit as well.
